OUR
SUSTAINABILITY
PRINCIPLES
At SARLAZ, we believe that sustainability is an ongoing journey—not a destination. We are fully aware that creating 100% sustainable jewellery is an aspiration rather than a current reality. Our commitment lies in taking honest, practical steps toward minimizing our environmental footprint while maintaining transparency with our customers.

A Transparent Approach

We are determined to avoid greenwashing. Instead, we openly acknowledge the complexities and challenges of being truly sustainable. As a small-scale, handcrafted jewellery brand, our environmental impact is already lower than that of mass producers. However, we remain committed to finding ways to further reduce waste and energy use in our processes.

What We’re Doing

  • Eco-Friendly Materials: Our jewellery is handcrafted using materials like clay, wood, bamboo, and recycled paper. These natural and recycled elements not only reduce waste but also embody our ethos of creating art with care for the planet.
  • Low-Waste Practices: We aim to minimise waste by using every bit of material we can and by innovating ways to repurpose leftover scraps into new creations.
  • Handcrafted Production: Each piece is crafted by hand, allowing us to maintain control over quality while minimising energy-intensive industrial processes.

We know there is always more to do.

Our next steps include:

  • Researching and adopting more sustainable finishes and coatings that align with our design ethos.
  • Exploring partnerships to reduce the environmental impact of the raw material shaping and curing processes.
  • Continuing to educate ourselves on how we can improve our sustainability practices while maintaining our handcrafted approach.

Where We’re Going

As an independent brand, we understand the power of individual and collective actions. Our role is to set an example, inspire responsible consumer choices, and build a community of customers who value sustainability, artistry, and authenticity. By sharing our progress and challenges openly, we hope to encourage dialogue and accountability across the industry.

Our sustainability journey is far from complete, but we are committed to making progress—step by step, piece by piece.
